Marcus Dunleavy has performed as a solo and ensemble, classical and rock guitarist for the past fifteen years. He has been a featured artist at the Old Town School of Folk Music, Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University, The Chicago Cultural Center, and The Harold Washington Library, The Skokie center for the Performing Arts, The Choir Academy of Chicago, The Park District of Chicago, Moraine Valley Community College and Chicago SGI's Ikeda Auditorium.While completing his Bachelor of Classical Guitar studies at Chicago College of the Performing Arts, he studied under local classical guitar master Paul Henry. He also attended the master classes of many of todayĆ¢€™s leading figures of the guitar including Oscar Ghiglia, David Russell, Sharon Isbin, and William Kanengiser.Mr. Dunleavy recently participated in the Cordoba Guitar Festival in Cordoba, Spain as an assistant to the legendary jazz fusion guitarist Larry Coryell. While there had the fortune to participate in master classes with guitar great Manual Barrueco and the composer Leo Brouwer.While maintaining a full teaching schedule Marcus remains active as a performer and composer. He also continues his own studies and training on guitar and in music and, for the past three and a half years, has had the honor of refining his skill under the tutelage of Maestro Sergio Assad of the world renowned "Duo Assad".
