Matt Thompson has been an active part of the professional music community since 1989. He received a Bachelor of Arts in 1998 from DePaul University. His performance experience spans from violin and contrabass in professional classical ensembles to rock, but has largely focused as a jazz bassist. He has performed with Dick Oatts, Randy Brecker, Steve Houghton, Sheldon Berg, The New York Voices, The Mighty Blue Kings, Frank Catalano and Von Freeman. As a producer, Matt has credits with The Mighty Blue Kings, Brian Deer, and Frisbie. As a session bassist, he has appeared on 30 plus albums with the likes of children's music artist Justin Roberts and the current global phenomenon Playing for Change. Additionally, he has played on major motion picture soundtracks.
